Euromillions - Euro Millions Lottery

European Lottery History - Euromillions results - Lovemylotto syndicates

The Euromillions lottery is a pan-European lottery, launched in the United Kingdom on Saturday February 7, 2004. The first draw took place on Friday February 13, 2004 in Paris. Initially only the UK, France and Spain were involved in the euro millions, but lotteries from Austria, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Switzerland subsequently joined the draw on 8 October 2004.  Euromillions lottery results have been found on my lottery blog now for the last 5+ years, and include a full prize breakdown as well as the UK only “millionaire raffle” game numbers.

With a record jackpot payout of £126 Million, Euro Millions is a massive, lump sum, tax-free, pan-European lottery that can roll over up to TEN TIMES! The euromillions has the potential to become the biggest lump-sum, tax-free lottery the world has ever seen. Bigger jackpots have been paid out in the USA, but American lotteries are taxed, so the Euro Millions lottery has a great chance of being the biggest tax free lottery ever, unless of course the new “Global Lottery” rumoured to be launching in 2012, and is set to become the biggest tax free game ever.

Euro Million Lotto Odds

The odds of winning a share in the Euromillions lottery jackpot are a staggering 1 in 76,275,360. (All data can be checked on official Camelot site) to win the jackpot players need to match the 5 main numbers, and the two lucky stars. However the lowest odds to win a prize which is for 2 main numbers and 1 lucky star is as little as 1 in 39. With the odds of winning any prize at all being 1 in 24.

euromillions lottery rollover

The Euromillions draw has regular lottery rollovers, as the odds of winning the euro million lottery is so high. This mean’s jackpot amounts which average £13 million, soon add up. In any year there is normally at least 3 rollover draws with jackpots of around £100 million. Again this is a tax free lump sum lottery, meaning the winner gets all the money at once tax free. This is unlike the American lottery games, which can be bigger amounts but are taxed and paid out over a number of years.

 Euromillions Superdraws

The Euromillions lottery franchise also operates “Superdraws” these are where the jackpot is set at either €100 million (£84m at present) or €135 million (£114m at present). The rules for euromillions superdraws also changed back in 2009. Originally if no one won the jackpot on the super draw it would roll down to the next winning prize category. However as of the 7th of November 2009 if the top prize fund does is not won, it is rolled over to the following week.

Millionaire raffle

In the UK there is also a bolt on game called the Millionaire raffle, which was introduced in 2009 when the price of a European lottery ticket increased from £1.50 to £2.00. The price increase was to bring it inline with mainland Europe who had been paying €2 since the euro millions lottery game started.

The millionaire raffle also has superdraws, the first was on the 12 November 2010, when 10 millionaires were created in special draw. And the second ever euromillions millionaire raffle superdraw, was on the 24th of December 2010 when 25 millionaires were created. Check the Millionaire raffle lottery results

Closing time for Euromillions lottery ticket sales

Ticket sales close (UK time) at 7.30pm on the night of the draw (Friday), and re-open again at 9pm for the following weeks Euro lotto draw.
